Stock grants

Stock grants are a great way to donate to SEF and count toward your annual Leadership donation.  Generally, you need to submit written authorization to your broker to make the transfer of shares. We encourage you to check with your broker or stockholding company before making a grant.

To make the transfer to SEF, our Stock Donations Coordinator will need the following information:

Your name
Your brokerage firm
Your account number
Date of transfer
Number of shares
Name of stock

Your broker will need the following information:

Our name: Saratoga Education Foundation
Our brokerage firm: Charles Schwab
Our account number / DTC number: ACCT #7761-0458 / DTC #0164

We ask that you let us know when you are making a stock grant to provide a seamless transfer, and ensure that you receive a statement for tax purposes.  Brokers don’t necessarily notify us when the stock comes in or by whom.

We will be unable to acknowledge your gift unless you notify SEF.

If you have questions or to notify SEF of a pending donation, send an email to: Stock Donations Coordinator.

Car donations

Donate your car to SEF and receive a tax deduction. The value of the car contributes to your Leadership donation.

Vehicles donated to SEF are turned over to another charity, Auction City, which then assumes liability for the vehicle. Once the vehicle is sold, SEF receives 90% of the sale proceeds, although this amount may be reduced if repairs are needed to pass a Smog Check. When the car sells, SEF will provide you with a written acknowledgement of your donation and a statement of the tax deductible gross proceeds from the sale.

Here’s how to donate your vehicle:
1)  Let SEF know you want to donate a vehicle by emailing SEF Car Donations
2)  We will put you in touch with Auction City to set up a vehicle transfer date.
3)  You will provide both the pink slip and proof of registration to Auction City when you transfer your vehicle.
4)  At the time of transfer, you’ll receive a dated donation receipt from Auction City.

Leave the rest to SEF. We will track the progress and upon sale, SEF will issue you a written acknowledgement of the sale stating the date of your donation and the gross proceeds for tax deduction purposes.
